Fasten your seatbelts, ladies…

… It’s time to root out those lies we believe about children! Our gathering this weekend was awesome – and the conversation was so great! So far, we managed to uncover one lie – the one that leads us to think that we are the ones in control of the size of our families!We have a list of reasons why we should not have children… we can’t afford it. It’s not convenient. I can’t put my career on hold. We barely have time for us – how can we manage a kid? We already have three – we can’t handle one more. It’ll ruin my figure… go figure. The truth? God is the giver of life – not you… not me. How does He view children? As a treasure – a blessing – as arrows of light in His quiver.

What we should really be saying is, “God, what’s your plan for us (me & my husband)?” Do you want us to have children? Help us to use wisdom and pay attention to your timing. Help us to prepare now to be parents that will raise our kids to be worshipers who love you and love your Word. Help us to lead our kids in devotion to You… to show them how to pray and make decisions based on your Word – and nothing else.

The truth is, as long as our hearts are open to God’s plan for our lives, those little excuses that once seemed so big are out the window. If God’s plan is for you to have (more) children, then He’ll move on your heart to head in that direction. No amount of birth control will stop God from having His way! God’s desire is that our children will also be faithful warriors who love Him and love righteousness – just as He desires for us now.
