Church Priority (Psalm 63:1-5, Jeremiah 29:10-14, Matthew 6:33, Matthew 7:21-23)
Gary Stiles, January 8, 2012Part of the Church Priority series, preached at a Sunday service
Using Psalms 63 as an example of duality of the responsibilities of the individual to set one's disciplines in their lives must also become the discipline of the local church as a whole. It is not only the responsibility of each believer, it is also the responsibility of each local church to earnestly seek the will of the Father and do what He commands so his kingdom expands and His bride grows up before He returns for her.

Psalm 63:1-5
A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
63:1 O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
beholding your power and glory.
3 Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
4 So I will bless you as long as I live;
in your name I will lift up my hands.
5 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food,
and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, (ESV)
Jeremiah 29:10-14
10 “For thus says the Lord: When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place. 11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. 13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile. (ESV)
Matthew 6:33
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (ESV)
Matthew 7:21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ (ESV)
