Genesis 3:13
13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” (ESV)
2 Corinthians 11:3
3 But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. (ESV)
2 Timothy 4:4
4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. (ESV)
1 John 1:8
8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (ESV)
2 Thessalonians 2:10-17
10 and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, 12 in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13 But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. 14 To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter.
16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, 17 comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word. (ESV)
Getting Reality: Part 2

Our journey in the reality war has officially begun. We started the battle by unveiling what could be one of the worst cripplers of our walks in the reality of Jesus Christ, Excuses. Excuses keep us from doing the things that we are called to do because it’s easier to excuse our behaviors and continue our walks in a vein reality than it is to change. The reason we choose this over Christ is do to the fear of the unknown outcomes if we do agree to change. We don’t trust God! Instead we use excuses to cover up our foul behaviors and incorporate Christ into our lousy lifestyles when its most convenient. These excuses are one of the four reasons the Church worldwide has been portrayed as hypocrites and has been ineffective in its mission in winning the lost. If we want to get serious about our walk and our call then we need to stop making excuses as to why we can’t change and start changing.

Romans 1:20-25
20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. (ESV)
Romans 8:1-4
8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. 3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. (ESV)
James 5:12
12 But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation. (ESV)

The truth about children…

As we wrapped up yet another chapter in our journey through Lies Women Believe, we concluded that children are definitely a treasure and a blessing from God. We as parents must not underestimate our influence… everything we do has an impact on our kids. The slightest bit of encouragement can speak volumes! Leading by example… sharing wisdom from the mistakes we’ve made… teaching them to be motivated by love for God and not because of the fear of disappointing us as parents!

Getting Reality Part 1
February 14, 2012 by Gary Podosek

For the next couple of weeks we will be embarking on a journey to expose the false reality that we as believers create for ourselves. Some call this a comfort zone but this is not really going far enough, because a comfort zone is just where we go to be comfortable when things are rough. Reality speaks of what is considered to be fact or truth. We have no need to retreat to a reality, it just always exists. That is why we are exposing it. Too many Christians today believe, truly, that they are doing fine in their walk but do not change. Why do we struggle with change? All we do is create a reality that accepts the truth of Jesus but allows us to continue living as we did before Christ. The Church of Jesus Christ cannot go on believing this lie. We have just started to expose the false realities by revealing the 4 reasons we are unable to live in the reality that Jesus provides for each and everyone of us. The reasons are excuses, deception, conformity, and compromise. If we can understand that we are required to change our reality from one of darkness to one of light, then we can also understand how darkness cannot be where light is. We need stop living like Isreal did with Moses and start trusting God and the measure of faith He has given to each of us.

Getting Reality Part 1: Defining What Reality Is (Exodus 19:16-25, Exodus 32:1-16, Romans 5:18-19)
Gary Podosek, February 12, 2012Part of the Getting Reality series, preached at a Sunday service
This is the precursor of a series of messages to help the church get out of a false reality of their walks with Christ, and begin to step out of that reality and believe that the provision of faith that Christ gives us is sufficient for every aspect of our life.

Exodus 19:16-25
16 On the morning of the third day there were thunders and lightnings and a thick cloud on the mountain and a very loud trumpet blast, so that all the people in the camp trembled. 17 Then Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they took their stand at the foot of the mountain. 18 Now Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke because the Lord had descended on it in fire. The smoke of it went up like the smoke of a kiln, and the whole mountain trembled greatly. 19 And as the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him in thunder. 20 The Lord came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.
21 And the Lord said to Moses, “Go down and warn the people, lest they break through to the Lord to look and many of them perish. 22 Also let the priests who come near to the Lord consecrate themselves, lest the Lord break out against them.” 23 And Moses said to the Lord, “The people cannot come up to Mount Sinai, for you yourself warned us, saying, ‘Set limits around the mountain and consecrate it.’” 24 And the Lord said to him, “Go down, and come up bringing Aaron with you. But do not let the priests and the people break through to come up to the Lord, lest he break out against them.” 25 So Moses went down to the people and told them. (ESV)
Exodus 32:1-16
32:1 When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to him, “Up, make us gods who shall go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.” 2 So Aaron said to them, “Take off the rings of gold that are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.” 3 So all the people took off the rings of gold that were in their ears and brought them to Aaron. 4 And he received the gold from their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool and made a golden calf. And they said, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!” 5 When Aaron saw this, he built an altar before it. And Aaron made proclamation and said, “Tomorrow shall be a feast to the Lord.” 6 And they rose up early the next day and offered burnt offerings and brought peace offerings. And the people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.
7 And the Lord said to Moses, “Go down, for your people, whom you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves. 8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way that I commanded them. They have made for themselves a golden calf and have worshiped it and sacrificed to it and said, ‘These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!’” 9 And the Lord said to Moses, “I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people. 10 Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them, in order that I may make a great nation of you.”
11 But Moses implored the Lord his God and said, “O Lord, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand? 12 Why should the Egyptians say, ‘With evil intent did he bring them out, to kill them in the mountains and to consume them from the face of the earth’? Turn from your burning anger and relent from this disaster against your people. 13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, ‘I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have promised I will give to your offspring, and they shall inherit it forever.’” 14 And the Lord relented from the disaster that he had spoken of bringing on his people.
15 Then Moses turned and went down from the mountain with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand, tablets that were written on both sides; on the front and on the back they were written. 16 The tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets. (ESV)
Romans 5:18-19
18 Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. 19 For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous. (ESV)
