It's the season of Christmas! If ever there was a season that reflected abundance it is surely the Christmas season- with all the shopping, home decorating, friend visiting, card sending, present wrapping, church special event attending, dance recitals, caroling, Christmas light watching, Christmas movie watching, cookie baking, play attending and throw in a few birthdays and a couple sick family members with house disinfecting you might begin to feel as though you’re a spinning dreidel. Yes Christmas, full of merriment, colds and hot tempered complaining and high doses of entitlement that we convince ourselves its a time to survive, not enjoy. We parrot out that “Jesus is the reason for the season” but often we find that we are sacrificing our quiet time just to get one more item checked off of our holiday check list. Today Church we are going to venture down a very different holiday message. One that asks, What are we truly seeking?
